Mrs. Marianne Balabon grew up in North Branch, MI. She attened public school in North Branch starting in preschool and graduating high school in 2000. Mrs. Balabon's mom is a retired science teacher from North Branch and her dad is retired GM skilled trades. Mrs. Balabon does not have any brothers or sisters but had many close friends who were always at her house to play. While growing up, Mrs. Balabon was active in dance classes, band, drama, and National Honors Society. In high school, she decided she wanted to pursue a career in music so Mrs. Balabon became very active in all band and music classes offered at North Branch High School including: marching band, symphonic band, jazz band, pep band, secondary instrument/music theory class, and teacher aide (for the band director of course!).
Percussion is Mrs. Balabon's primary instrument. She started playing percussion in 5th grade in the school band. Mrs. Balabon has a love for all percussion instruments and can play, but isn't limited to: marimba, xylophone, glockenspiel, chimes, snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, timpani, gong, congas, bongos, tambourine, castasnets, triangle, claves, sleigh bells, maracas, drum set, and piano. While in her high school's secondary instrument class, Mrs. Balabon learned to play the alto saxophone. She enjoyed learning the saxophone however percussion will always be her main love.
Mrs. Balabon currently lives in Brown City with her husband Josh and daughter Molly. Her house is an old farm house that is over 100 years old. There have been many updates done to her house but the basic frame and foundation was built in 1906. Molly will be attending 4 y/o preschool at Bishop Kelley this year. Mrs. Balabon and her family has 2 dogs, Franklin and Shelby, and 1 cat named Thumbs. Mrs. Balabon enjoys swimming, playing outside with Molly and her dogs, traveling, and of course anything that has to do with music!
